Daily Devotional (Acts 2 - Upper room, site of Holy Spirit Baptism)

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit begins the growth and expansion of the church that Jesus built. In the gospels, we see the strifes among the disciples who would be the greatest. But after the baptism of the Holy Spirit, all these strifes were ended. The true followers of Christ has no intention to be great in the eyes of men, but their intention is to do what God intends them to do. They experienced the coming of the mighty wind with great force, signifying the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives (v2). They were filled with the gifts of the Spirit, for the furtherance of the gospel. They spoke a new language, as the Spirit gave them utterance (v4). This is the authority that God gave them in this world. Indeed the kingdom of God had inaugurated with spiritual power that started from within. People from various parts of the world had witnessed this event, though some mocked them, but Peter stood and proclaimed that this is the fulfillment of ancient prophetic book of Joel, urging them to repent and believe in Christ Jesus (v16). As a result, the members of the newly established church continued steadfastly in four most important things; apostles doctrines, fellowship, breaking of the bread, prayers (v42). As a result, the witnessing continued and the people received Christ as Lord and Savior. Since we are members of the kingdom, let us not neglect these four basic ingredients, not only for our personal growth, but for the glory of the Lord.

The place (see pictures) is said to be the site of the original house (Upper Room) where the group of Peter received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The ancient church was built by the early Christians, but destroyed by the Romans in the second century. Then rebuilt in the 4th century and destroyed by the Muslim invaders. Today, is it controlled by Israel government and open for public view.

I brought a lot of friends and tourists in this place, and many experienced the presence of God and angels. Some even received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. You too can be part on my next pilgrimage.
