Feast of the Tabernacles in the Pandemic Holy Land

This month, the Jewish world is celebrating the Feast of Sukkoth, or Feast of Tabernacles. It was originated from the Old Testament writings, from the Torah, the 5 books of Moses.

Leviticus 23:33, Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 34 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the Lord. 35 On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it. 36 For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.

I am a pastor and a student of the Bible. I was overwhelmed the first time I visited the holy land and attended the feast of tabernacles on September 1999 for a week. I met thousands of pilgrims from around the globe, worshipping the Lord with all their might. Christians came to the holy land to express their gratitude unto the Lord, and to articulate that they would be forever followers of Jesus Christ.

Six months later, I went back to Israel for two things; to further my study in Biblical Studies, and do mission to start a new ministry. The Lord has blessed the ministry so that a church was able to established in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Netanya. I also finished my study, and was transferred to new location, New York City in 2006, to start another ministry. But every year, I never forget to visit Israel, even bringing pilgrims and tourists to explore the land at the feast of tabernacles.

Since this year is pandemic, and Israel is being lockdown for coronavirus surging, I am contented to share my very first experience with you, with my old pictures the first time I visited the land of the Lord.
